STATESBORO, GEORGIA (December 12, 2025) – A 57-year-old woman has tragically died in a Statesboro truck accident near East Parrish Street and North Main Street.
Statesboro officials are saying that the accident took place around 8:40 AM on December 10. A woman riding a tricycle was traveling on the south shoulder of East Parish Street when she attempted to cross the road at a pedestrian crosswalk.
The driver of a Ram commercial truck struck the victim at the intersection. Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim.
Despite life-saving measures at the scene, she died due to the severity of her injuries. The driver of the commercial truck remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Truck drivers in Georgia are expected to obtain a commercial driver’s license and exercise a great deal of caution to avoid hitting pedestrians. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 40-6-91, “The driver of a vehicle shall stop and remain stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the roadway within a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling.” Several factors could contribute to a pedestrian collision.
Truck drivers must use caution to avoid hitting pedestrians, even if those pedestrians are outside of marked crosswalks.
